Cambridgeshire County Conference in December 2011

At this meeting we were fortunate to have Jean Hayes from Cavell Nurses' Trust (previously Nurse Aid) to address the meeting.

We are all aware of the difficulties that many are having at this time of economic downturn and the worries many of our colleagues have trying to keep positive with the threat of job cuts, reduced hours and for some, general pressures from the day to day working requirements and the needs that many have in their home life.

The trust support nurses and HCAs with day to day needs when they have been ill or their savings do not cover that unexpected breakdown of the washing machine. They will help with items to maintain independence even if the nurse has retired or left due to disability. Student nurses may also be eligible.

The session was informative and useful and members took the information back to their workplaces for HR and occupational health departments to keep the details for colleagues who need assistance at a time when they may not know which may to turn. The Cavell Nurses' Trust can be contacted on 03003653655, or for further information visit the NurseAid website.
