Lunch and learn

This new initiative between RCN Eastern Region and the Open University (OU) provides a unique opportunity to access free training on dignity - and a free lunch. The lunchtime events are open to all registered nurses, health care assistants (HCAs) and student nurses, RCN members and non-members.

Events, supported by a trained OU lecturer and RCN regional and assistant officers, are being planned to take place within hospital and community settings. The aim is to enable staff to review and challenge their own perceptions around dignity in care covering:

The programme lasts one hour and is interactive, encouraging discussion of specially created scenarios, feedback, action and analysis and will show the DVD 'Dignity in Care'.

There will be a chance to meet with local RCN representatives and to find out about local and national RCN activities. The OU offers discounts on its courses to RCN members and information will also be available on the day.

18 sucessful, well attended events were held in the Eastern Region during September to December 2009. We are now planning similar sessions for 2010:
