Module one
Within three months of accrediting you as a new trade union representative, we will send you an offer of a place on module one. You will also receive A Guide to the Learning and Development Pathway for RCN representatives (PDF 56KB) [how to access PDF files], a regional information pack and details of your mentor. Your mentor, usually an RCN officer, will work with you and the learning and development facilitator to provide you with the individualised support you need to become an effective, competent and confident representative, so you need to contact them to introduce yourself and decide how you are going to work together as part of your learning and development programme.
Details of module one dates are available in Information pack for RCN Eastern Region (PDF 88KB).
Module two
Details of Module two (development module) dates are available in Information pack for RCN Eastern Region (PDF 57KB). You will need to discuss with your mentor which course is most suitable for you. To apply for any of these courses you need to complete the nomination form for module two which is at the end of the Information Pack. The form should be sent to Jon Houghton at the Eastern Region, so that it can be signed off by your mentor.
You will then receive a letter confirming your place and further information about the course.
Module three
Experienced representatives can undertake further learning and development through module three courses. Details can be found in Continuing professional development for experienced RCN representatives and other activists in England (PDF 0.99MB) [how to access PDF files]. Details for module three dates are available in the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Prospectus (PDF 34KB). Places are limited and available to representatives by nomination only. You will need to complete the nomination form for module three which is at the end of the CPD prospectus. The form should be sent to Jon Houghton at the Eastern Region, so that it can be signed off by your mentor.
You will then receive a letter confirming your place and further information about the course.
