About us
London is unique in the extent of its diversity and characteristics, and over 300 languages or dialects are spoken here. Even though this is one of the richest cities in the world, several boroughs have high levels of economic deprivation and in some there are significant ethnic groupings. In four boroughs, minority ethnic residents are in the majority. These social, demographic and geographic variations have a significant impact on the way services are provided for our members by the RCN in London and on the delivery of health care in general.
Current RCN membership in London is 49,000. The RCN London Region team comprises 38 staff, who carry either sector or pan-London responsibilities. All member services are delivered through five sector teams and the boundaries for each team broadly cover the boundaries of the five former strategic health authorities. Each RCN London Region sector team comprises officers, assistant officer/s and an administrator.
If you would like to know more about becoming a steward, safety or learning representative, or how to get active in a forum, please make contact with either your branch secretary, or call the regional office on 020 7927 7220. You will get time off for union activities, as well as other benefits.
Use this section for more information about out regional branches and officers, and meet our Regional Board.
