New Evidence Updates from NHS Evidence
I am pleased to inform you that as part of a growing service, NHS Evidence – a service provided by NICE, now produces new style evidence updates to help health and social care professionals keep up-to-date with new research, and support them in making evidence-based decisions in a focused and time-efficient manner.
While evidence updates do not replace current accredited guidance they do highlight new evidence that might generate a future change in practice.
‘Constipation in children and young people: Evidence Update June 2012’ focuses on a summary of selected new evidence relevant to NICE clinical guideline 99 ‘Diagnosis and management of idiopathic childhood constipation in primary and secondary care’ (2010).
In producing the evidence update, 674 pieces of evidence were searched, of which eight have been chosen for publication. An Evidence Update Advisory Group, comprised of subject experts, has reviewed the prioritised evidence and provided a commentary.
By producing evidence updates, NHS Evidence seeks to reduce the need for individuals, managers and commissioners to search for new evidence and to inform guidance developers of new evidence in their field.
Your help in disseminating ‘Constipation in children and young people: Evidence Update June 2012’ to your members and colleagues through your bulletins, e-communications and website would be much appreciated.
We would also welcome your feedback on the evidence update, what you like about it and how you think it could be improved. You can send your comments through to contactus@evidence.nhs.uk.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Kind regards,
Alexia Tonnel
Director of Evidence Resources, NICE
