RCN Fellowship
Every year at RCN Congress, Council presents the RCN Fellowship award. It is given to RCN Members who have made an exceptional contribution to the advancement of nursing and/or health care. Once nominations have been received, the RCN Awards Panel reviews them and makes recommendations to Council on suitable candidates.
Any RCN member (except employees of the College), Board, Branch or National entity can submit nominations. The nominator must provide three referees from a range of backgrounds to demonstrate the national/international impact of the nominee's work. The referees may support only one nomination in any single year. Referees may not be employees of the College. Equally, the nominator may submit only one nomination in any single year. You will also be asked to provide a CV of the nominee.
Although any RCN Member can be nominated, posthumous nominations are not accepted by the Panel. The nominee should have made an exceptional contribution to the advancement of nursing and/or health care through leadership, practice development or academic achievement.
It is not recommended that nominators seek the nominee's consent, prior to putting their name forward, as this will avoid disappointment should the nomination be unsuccessful.
Timetable for nominations:
The timetable for nominations is posted annually on the RCN website and published in Bulletin; nominations are usually sought between August and November.
The nomination form is available on the website. Hard copies can be obtained from the Governance Support Unit at RCN Headquarters on 0207 409 3333.
How to make a nomination:
