RCN Honorary Fellowship

Every year at RCN Congress, Council presents the RCN Honorary Fellowship Award, to an individual who has made an exceptional contribution to advancement of nursing and/or health care. Applications are initially reviewed by the RCN Awards Panel who then submit recommendations to Council. Any RCN member (except employees of the College), Board, Branch or National entity can submit nominations. The nominator must provide three referees from a range of backgrounds to demonstrate the national/international impact of the nominee's work. The referees may support only one nomination in any single year. Referees may not be an employee of the College. The nominator may submit only one nomination in any single year.

A nominee for the RCN Honorary Fellowship should either be a nurse registered outside the UK of international repute and distinction, or an individual who is not a nurse but has had a significant impact on nursing and/or healthcare. Naturally, a nominee will be expected to have connections with the RCN and its work and the Panel regrets that posthumous nominations can not be accepted.

It is suggested that nominators do not make the nominee aware of the application, to avoid disappointment should the nomination be unsuccessful.
