RCN Mentorship for representatives
The documentation process for the RCN’s new mentorship scheme has now been agreed. Developed by the Learning and Development Institute in partnership with staff representatives from around the UK and the three UK committee representatives, the programme is now being rolled out across the UK. Each of the 12 boards have developed implementation plans, which specify how Representatives will be mentored and supported under the new system. Supporting documentation will shortly be posted on to the RCN’s website too.
Across the UK, RCN mentors are currently being trained in the new system, and all mentors should have completed their training by October 2010. By this point, the new mentorship programme should have commenced in all countries and regions.
Each country and regional board has agreed an implementation plan which specifies how the scheme will be rolled out to all representatives in due course.
Under the new system, representatives can complete their documentation online and can also add evidence to their portfolios.
A presentation on the mentorship programme, by Glenn Turp, UK Project Lead, was well received at the RCN Joint Representatives Conference in Leeds, in June. For those activists who were unable to attend, Glenn’s presentation is available below:
