North West branches

The aim of the local branch is to bring the benefits of RCN membership to your doorstep and allow you to participate fully in the organisation wherever you live and work.

From the 1 October 2008 the RCN North West region reconfigured its branch structure. The region now has eight branches based on geographical areas, as opposed to the previous 28 branches. Each branch has an elected executive committee including a chair, secretary and treasurer, as well as others whose role is to provide information or advice or represent you with your employer.

Local RCN representatives

When you need to talk to someone face to face or, for example, when you want a mediator between yourself and your employer, your local representative is the best person to contact. And even if they can't help you themselves, they will know someone in the RCN who can.

There are various local RCN representatives - all of them fully trained by the RCN.

Stewards

Their role is to protect your rights and ensure you are treated fairly.

Safety representatives

Our safety representatives play a key role in protecting members at work, particularly in ensuring your environment is safe and healthy.

Learning representatives

We know how vital it is to keep up with the latest developments in nursing generally and in your own field of practice - but also how difficult this can be. This is where learning representatives come in.

If you are interested in becoming a RCN representative contact Carole Glaister by email carole.glaister@rcn.org.uk  or by telephone on 01204 552441 for more information.
