Regional staff
In this section you can find out more about the RCN staff who work in the North West region, and how to contact them.
Regional Director
Steve Flanagan was appointed to the role of Regional Director, North West region, in May 2003. Steve originally qualified in 1978 as a registered nurse in learning disability. He subsequently gained registration as a RGN at Southport District General Hospital, where his main interest was in Acute general medicine. Subsequently Steve trained and practised as a Clinical Nurse Teacher at the Sefton School of Nursing in Liverpool, and held this position until his appointment as an RCN Officer in 1986.
Steve holds a Masters degree in Industrial Relations, having studied at Keele University.
Operational Manager
Kathy Parker qualified as a registered nurse in 1980 and has worked in a variety of roles since then. Her last role was as a senior manager for Sefton Primary Care Trust with responsibility for long-term conditions, intermediate care and some urgent care services.
Kathy was an RCN Representative (Rep) for six years and was involved on a professional level through the District Nursing Forum. Kathy worked for the RCN until 2004, as an Assistant Officer and Regional Adviser, until her return to the NHS senior management role.
She is able to bring her invaluable experience in that role to that of her current role of Operational Manager for the North West region.
