Pauline Pearsall

Pauline is a registered general nurse and a registered clinical nurse teacher.

She began her nursing career as a nursing cadet and went on to complete her nurse training in Stafford before starting work in the Operating Department where she worked her way up to the post of nursing officer.

Pauline was invited to join the commissioning team for a new District General Hospital, to commission the Operating Department and manage the department when the new hospital opened.

When she left the NHS she was an assistant director of nursing services in an acute trust, a role which included the clinical governance aspect of health care. She has extensive experience in nursing management, recruitment, education and deployment of nursing staff.

Pauline was one of the original team instrumental in setting up a successful nursing agency in April 1999. The agency is now part of Medacs Healthcare for which she is the company's clinical adviser.

Pauline has always been involved with the RCN, serving as branch chairman and secretary. When she became involved with the nursing agency she undertook a professional facilitators course (learning representatives) and set up a resource kiosk for the benefit of agency nurses and carers. She also organises training programmes for agency staff, inviting local nursing home staff to attend.

Pauline is also one of the founder members of the West Midlands Learning Representatives' Committee and as a consequence she chairs the committee. She also sits on the RCN regional board and chairs the UK Learning Representatives' Committee.
