Every member of the Royal College of Nursing is affiliated to their local RCN branch.

If you are a member affiliated to the Herefordshire branch - and you can check which is your local branch on your RCN membership card - you can take advantage of opportunities to meet fellow members, discuss issues of local interest and concern and take part in events and activities aimed at promoting your professional development.

Meetings and Local Learning Events in 2013

The RCN Herefordshire branch has scheduled its branch members’ meetings for 2013, and is also holding a number of Local Learning Events for its members.

These events are bite-sized chunks of development and learning that last no more than 90 minutes. By attending, you contribute to your CPD, and you receive a certificate of attendance for your portfolio.

The events are free for RCN members and £25 for non-members. The cost for non-members is redeemable upon applying for RCN membership on the day.

You will need to book your place on the Local Learning Events. To reserve a place, please email westmidlands.region@rcn.org.uk or call 0121 450 4300.

RCN Herefordshire members' meeting and 'Dignity in care' workshop

This Local Learning Event will be presented by Paul Vaughan, RCN West Midlands Regional Director. The workshop will be followed by an RCN Herefordshire members’ meeting.

RCN Herefordshire Local Learning Event - 'The RCN’s Principles of Nursing Practice' workshop
Tuesday 30 April

This workshop will be presented by Linda Watterson, Programme Manager for the RCN's 'Evaluating & Improving' project.

This Local Learning Event will be presented by Felicity Crockford, Assistant Legal Officer in the RCN West Midlands Regional Office. The workshop will be followed by an RCN Herefordshire members’ meeting.

RCN Herefordshire Local Learning Event - 'Accountability and delegation' workshop
Wednesday 21 August

Starts: 2pm
Venue: Ledbury Community Health and Care Centre, Market Street, Ledbury, HR8 2AQ

This workshop will be delivered by Maria Lewis, Regional Development Assistant Officer in the RCN West Midlands Regional Office.

RCN Herefordshire Annual General Meeting and 'Leadership and teamwork' workshop
Thursday 24 October

Starts: 12.30pm
Venue: Rooms 31 & 32, Educational Development Centre, Hereford County Hospital, Stonebow Road, HR1 2ER

This Local Learning Event will be presented by Ian Govier, Development Manager for Nursing Leadership at National Leadership & Innovation Agency For Healthcare. The workshop will be followed by the RCN Herefordshire Annual General Meeting, where members will be able to:

  • contribute to discussions about the branch's priorities for the coming year
  • elect the branch executive committee
  • ratify the accreditation of local RCN representatives

Any member can stand for election to a position on the branch executive committee, and if they are elected they will play a leading role in the organisation and development of the RCN's services and activities in Herefordshire. The branch invites all its members to attend.
