Ethics Committee appointments
The RCN is setting up a new Ethics Committee. Nominations for places on the committee have now closed.
This sub-committee of RCN Council will be instrumental in shaping the way in which ethical issues are raised with the membership and as an advisory committee will make recommendations to council.
On 14 June a successful workshop was held at which key priorities for the new committee were discussed by a variety of RCN members and others. It is hoped that these priorities will form the framework for the new committee's first work plan. They are to:
- implement our own framework for ethical decision making by the organisation
- describe how nursing ethics influences and impacts on practice,
- embed ways of working that will ensure the nursing voice is heard on high profile ethical issues.
If you have any queries please contact Emily Pollinger.
Timeline for appointing the new Ethics Committee
- 30 September - nominations close
- 15 October – interviews
- 1 December - first meeting of the new committee
