Future Congress

Our big discussion

For more than 90 years and in many forms, the annual Congress of the Royal College of Nursing has reflected the major issues of nursing. But what will Congress look like in two years, 10 years, 20 years and even 100 years time?

That's what we asked RCN members to consider in our Future Congress discussion. This kicked off at a special session at Congress 2010 in Bournemouth, which you can watch at the Congress webcast archive. We then asked RCN members and RCN staff members what they thought. Below you can read the briefing paper produced to help get the discussion going, and the report showing the results of the constitution.

Council has listened to members' views with an open mind, and has considered how best to make any changes.  Recommendations were made at a special session at Congress 2011 in Liverpool, where members had a chance to give their comments. This all takes place within the context of the RCN's Legal and Governance Review.
