Alison Geeson

I am a passionate Head of Nursing wanting to make a meaningful contribution in supporting nurses as we face the professional challenges of the future.

I have 26 years NHS experience, both in general and mental health nursing.  My clinical experience is complemented with senior management experience, academic achievements as well as a proven track record within the professional leadership and education arena.

I am proud to be a nurse and passionate about the valuable contribution that nurses make to the quality of patient care.  I am a caring, motivated, conscientious nurse professional with a genuine desire to be an ambassador for the RCN.  I am a motivated person and enjoy team working.  My experience has given me the opportunity to appreciate the grass roots issues that matter to nurses as well as the awareness of how the world is changing politically, economically and socially.

The leadership skills I have developed within general and mental health nursing I believe would form a sound basis to demonstrate commitment and act in the best interests of the RCN.  I consider myself as having the abilities and vision to bring to life the practical challenges facing nurses and contribute with honesty and integrity to decision making processes.  I also have a wide appreciation of the contributions of the whole nursing family.

I firmly believe these experiences and qualities could be utilised to influence, negotiate and communicate on behalf of RCN members and would be proud to contribute these to the RCN Council.
