Brian Boag

As an experienced nurse qualified in adult and mental health I feel I have the qualities to take forward the views and needs of nurses in Scotland within the RCN.

Having worked in both clinical and educational settings I have been involved in developing strategy both locally and nationally. Having served on the Emergency care association I was involved in national consultation in relation quality of care. Whilst undertaking the RCN political Leadership programme I gained the necessary skills in campaigning, influencing and negotiating and media relations need to drive through national nursing agenda.

I believe that leadership is effective through good communication; I have experience in developing strong communication systems and use modern technology to ensure that this happens. I have experience in chairing meetings at many levels and am adapt at getting the best from these events. I have an eye for detail and am able to provide succinct analysis for effective dissemination.

Analysis of policy and development of nursing strategy are key to the future work of the RCN and developing the future of nursing, I am able to effectively question performance ensuring that standards are reached and evaluated effectively.

As a elected member I would fully sign up to the Nolan principals of public life, I have much experience working voluntarily for community groups, this has meant having to act in an appropriate way ensuring probity and developing trust with those you serve.

Thank you.
