Cecilia Anim

Cecilia Anim. Clinical Nurse Specialist, with 30 years in contraception and women's health. Many innovative changes have taken place over the years aimed at improving care. My aim has always been to promote an environment where patients and staff are safe, respected, and treated with dignity and fairness.

Over the past 14 years I have supported the RCN as active Steward, Branch Secretary, Health and Safety Representative and Staffside Secretary (for 10 years). Chaired the  Menopause Group which I started in 2004.

Elected to the RCN London Board in 2008. In these roles I support nurses, advise managers and have been a pivotal member of the Joint Staff Consultative Committee, the Joint Staff Negotiating Committee and Health and Safety Committee. I have worked in partnership with staffside colleagues to facilitate policy changes, consultations and reviews for 3 trusts, all aimed at making a real difference to nurses and patients.

I have always been a team player, acted with integrity and maintained confidentiality. These experiences will help me understand the dynamics and strategic role of council and help deliver the RCN's strategic objectives.

I will bring to council 5 years experience as Chair of my local primary school in which I have gained corporate skills, knowledge and the motivation to strive for honesty and selflessness in performing my duties. I will bring these qualities to RCN Council.

All these experiences have enabled me to understand corporate life, RCN structures and functions. I will bring these skills to my council role.
