Gaynor Jones

I have been a RN for thirty years, and during that time I have seen considerable changes in health care.  I am a Lead Steward, but still work in the clinical setting of a very busy A&E.  This constantly reminds me of the need to value nurses, health care support workers and patients, to ensure that they are treated with dignity and respect they deserve.

I have previously had the honour of serving on both Council and Welsh Board and fully understand the commitment required to represent members across Wales.  I also share the RCN's passion for nursing and the nursing family.

As a member of the Trust Board in my own organisation, where political economical and social issues play a vital role in the decision making process.  I have been able to influence decisions at strategic level by offering constructive suggestions that affect both patients and staff.  I have used my knowledge and skills gained by my experience as a RN and from previously working at UK and All-Wales level.  I always approach problems with fairness, integrity and discretion.

I believe that I am able to look at problems from many and varied perspectives and to offer practical solutions. I am always prepared to be accountable for any decisions I make, as I feel that they are always based on sound judgement, being open, honest and more importantly being transparent.

I feel that my experience in the NHS has given me the people skills required to undertake this role.
