Hamish Kemp
I am clinical lead within Learning Disabilities and enjoy being part of a team aspiring to achieving common goals. However, I understand when it is necessary for me to take a lead role.
I have always been active within the RCN, not only as a member of my branch, but also at regional and national levels. As a student I served on the national committee of the ANS, I have been a member of UK Stewards Committee and now sit the NW Regional Board
During this time I have been closely involved with major developments both within my field of practice and within the RCN.
RCN work has included the development of Future Activist training, membership of the Congress Voting Review Group, and leading on the new branch structure within the NW region.
As a steward responsibilities include representing members on an individual level and representing the views of the wider membership.
Throughout my roles in the RCN have always actively listened and learned from the views and concerns of all members enabling me to question the executive of the RCN. To ensure that the RCN is a membership-led organisation that is fit for purpose at both national and local level, and to support nurses and nursing however and wherever I can.
Through the Political Leadership Programme I am influencing national policy development in my area of practice ensuring the voice of nursing and the dignity of the client group is at the centre of the debate.
