Katherine Anderson
I am an enthusiastic and well motivated individual in both my personal and professional of my life. I have been involved with the RCN since my first year in nursing school where I first began campaigning for nursing issues. It was during this time I attended what was to be the first of many conferences and subsequently got elected onto the Association of Nursing Students (ANS) Executive Committee representing the North West region. This gave me further insight into the RCN and the work it does for its members, work I was directly involved with at both local and national level.
During this time I also served on the North West Board as their student member thus getting a flavour for the governance side of the RCN. Since qualifying in early 2005 I have been an accredited RCN Steward and feel the skills I have built on and developed during this period will be invaluable to work as a RCN Council member. I hold a dual role in my nursing job whereby I work both as a senior staff nurse on a busy ward and also as a specialist nurse running clinics and educating staff and patients. I am friendly and approachable with a deep interest in obtaining the best and proper conditions for members and have shown this during many cases in my representative role, challenging those in high managerial positions and seeking answers/change. I would be honoured to represent Yorkshire and the Humber as their Council member.
