Michael Brown

I'm Michael Brown and have been a Nurse and a member of the RCN since 1989, taking on an Activists role 3 years later becoming a Steward and Health & Safety Rep.

Presently I am Board Member for Ayrshire and am privileged to represent Scotland's Nurses on national groups giving nursing a voice within Scotland's Government.

I believe my time on Scottish Board has given me the skills and experience required to be  an effective council member for Scotland.

Being an activist and a Board Member has ensured that I am in contact daily with issues that effect nurses on the floor and gives me the understanding of the work of the RCN locally and nationally.

I also have the privilege of being a member of Councils Governance committee on Membership, Representation and Diversity, which has prepared me to act always with the best interests of nurses and the RCN

I have a wide experience of the RCN and Trade union activity and am a member of Scotland's National Staff Side involving close working with all major Trade Unions in Scotland.

My Role within the Benevolent Fund for Nurses Scotland ,where I am a non executive director in a voluntary capacity, and my work with Scottish Government Groups has prepared me for working at the highest level within committee settings.

My skills, qualities and experience set out above will enable me to represent the needs of Scotland's nurses and I would be honoured to receive your vote.

Many Thanks
