Sharon McGinn

I am a qualified nurse in both Mental Health and Learning Disabilities, who has worked for the past thirty years in a wide range of services including Acute and Community Mental Health services, older persons, Palliative care, hospital and residential care settings, local prisons, Probation and Ambulance service. My current professional role is as a Clinical Nurse Manager of a Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Service, supporting a team of senior mental health professionals to provide a 24/7 service to a wide area across Devon. I also serve the local community as a Justice of the Peace.

I first became an activist in 1982 and served members as Lead Steward and Health and Safety representative for the Royal Western Counties Hospitals. I have continued to represent members in various roles and currently hold the post of Exeter Branch Chair and Representative on the South West Regional Board, while also continuing to be a local grassroots steward.

I am passionate about nursing and always keen to expand my knowledge by listening to the experiences and concerns expressed by others. I am a frontline nurse who has never been afraid to challenge and will continue to do so. Today's nursing landscape is rough terrain and I believe my multi experiences backed by sound clinical knowledge will help me to make a difference.
