Election Statement:
Nursing students are the future of nursing. In this respect I want to help bring nurse education into the 21st century without losing sight of the basics of good quality nursing care.
I feel passionate about nursing and know I can be a voice and represent students on a local, national and international level. I want to make sure nurses get the best from their education/training and have the best experience as well as receiving the highest level of training possible.
I have always had a keen interest in current affairs and professional development. Since I started my nursing studies in February this year, I have been actively promoting the RCN, its vision and values. I would like to continue to promote and engage with the RCN and represent students to the full.
Throughout my career, (nearly a decade working in the health care profession) and having completed a first degree in psychology, I have developed good organisational skills, the ability to manage my time effectively, work to deadlines, be self-motivated and show initiative. I pride myself on having effective communication and interpersonal skills; this is crucial to be able to communicate effectively in all situations, with all people.
I consider myself to be a loyal member of a team, comfortable in any role including, if required, leadership. I’m always keen to experience new situations and face new challenges. It is these qualities that I believe show I would be a good representative for the Association of Nursing Students.
