“In standing for re-election to RCN Council I reaffirm my commitment to the two important roles that the Royal College of Nursing provides for its members; advocating strongly for the profession as a Trades Union and in making leading contributions to the experience of patients receiving care, as a Professional Organisation.
My previous Council work has focussed on supporting members to take forward the RCN agenda on health issues at local, regional and national level. I do this by listening to your concerns and promoting continuity and guardianship of the Royal College of Nursing, through challenging political and economic times.
I am committed to championing good leadership in nursing as a priority within the NHS and the Independent Sector, and will actively support the RCN in campaigning for nurses to have a seat on the Board of every Foundation Trust, GP Consortium and Social Care Partnership.
With your support I will continue to champion key issues around Dementia, Dignity Diversity and Nutrition, promote equity and fair pay within the work place, profile the work of the RCN throughout the 4 countries of the UK and support international development.
In order to be more effective in my Council and clinical roles, I self funded and completed the RCN Leading for Quality Care Programme in March 2011.
With your support, I will build on previous experience to be more effective in engaging with, and representing you on the key issues facing our profession.”
