Candidate statement:
Having been a HCA for 15 years, an RCN member since 2007, a Learning Representative from 2010 and the current Northern Ireland Member of the HCA committee I have a proven track record in what we need within nursing and the RCN.
A passionate activist I carry out my role with enthusiasm and integrity. I believe in a positive learning environment and I support and encourage all members to achieve their potential.
As part of my project work within the HCA Committee we are looking at the educational needs of members working for the independent sector, a growing area of both concern and a great area of opportunity for the RCN. This priority can only strengthen the need for regulation of HCA's and AP's and the necessity of minimum standards of training and education.
At RCN Congress 2012 I was fortunate to facilitate the Principles of Nursing Workshops HCA's and Students. I was extremely proud with the positive responses.
HCA's are joining the RCN as they can see there is support and resources specific to our needs.
Over the last year my voice has become stronger for HCA's but more importantly my ability to listen to what our membership has increased.
These are exciting opportunistic times for HCA's, our membership and role in the RCN, indeed the nursing profession itself. I would be honoured to be considered for Council to be an advocate for HCA's and a positive representative for the College.
Please VOTE for ME to be YOUR voice.
