Candidate statement:
I am a proud member of the RCN, HCA/AP Committee member and as a Learning Representative. With twenty years' experience in the nursing family I want my views to be heard and for me to feel involved in the decision making within Council.
Our health care settings are changing and the roles we as HCA/AP's are doing are becoming more complex, we need and require the RCN to lobby on our behalf for mandatory regulation, for better training and support for all.
As an active representative, I work closely in partnership with my employer that promotes and support lifelong learning across all bands of the nursing spectrum. I am proud that I have been able to help facilitate members of staff to increase their knowledge and to help deliver high quality good care for our patients. This skill I feel is key to success for HCA/AP's within the RCN.
Being a member of the HCA/AP Committee I have been able to support colleagues to improve their training and career prospects, to look at the bigger picture and to work closely with other areas of the RCN such as the Student Committee at the RCN Congress where we had three very successful days.
There are many challenges and changes that lay ahead, and so I am keen to share my passion, enthusiasm and skills as your HCA/AP RCN Council Member. I see the role of Council member as a creative and dynamic one to represent the nursing family as a whole.
