Candidate statement:
Having been an RCN Steward for over eight years I feel I can adequately fulfil the role as YOUR COUNCIL MEMBER.
My role within the RCN as a grass roots activist has allowed me the privilege of supporting members in times of adversity and has prepared me to continue this through the difficult days ahead. I have also gained experience in influencing the direction of policy to ensure we develop and continue to deliver quality care to our patients.
I am passionate about nursing and see the RCN as a leading force in developing care. Within my RCN role I have held many different positions locally and currently hold the post of Branch secretary for the Bath branch. As well as holding the post of Lead Steward at the Royal United Hospitals NHS Trust as well as representing members on the South West RCN board.
More recently I have been privileged to represent you on the RCN HCA and AP Project Group representing the South West Region and nationally within an RCN team improving Dementia care.
I have a strong belief in fairness and of what is right. I am enthusiastic, practical, determined, and hardworking and a strong advocate of the value of our role within the nursing family. I have the ability to ask straight question expecting a straight answer and to contribute to any debates in an open and honest way, listening and taking forward your concerns.
