Candidate statement:

I have been an RCN steward for 18 years; I am very committed in the work I undertake on behalf of the RCN. I spent two 6 months secondments in the Winchester office as an assistant officer where I gained valuable knowledge and skills

During my years of being an RCN activist I have developed excellent interpersonal and professional skills. Have maturity and knowledge to enable me in dealing with life events that may occur either professionally in my role as clinical nurse manager in out of hours or my activist’s role.

I have been an active branch member since 1994 holding various branch executive positions, and attend RCN conference regularly.

I have been lead steward for 8 years in my trust and worked closely with staff side and management to ensure RCN members interests are at the forefront at all times. I am fully aware of the major changes affecting the NHS and the organisational changes that effects members jobs, I believe it is important that the RCN has a voice during these demanding times, ensuring process is followed and patient care is not compromised.

My Staff side role involves agenda for change matching, ensuring that jobs are matched according to the national guidelines; I attend various trust groups which includes NHSLA, equality and diversity, workforce development and health and safety regularly

I am an excellent team player, supportive to my colleagues, reliable, flexible, and trustworthy. I would welcome the challenge being council board member.
