The RCN Heath Practitioner Committee is a newly established RCN Committee. The committee’s role will include helping develop RCN policy, putting the RCN’s priorities into action and contributing the perspective of HCAs and APs into the RCN’s work.

What is the term of office?
For this election, members will be elected for a four year term of office. In the following election (for terms of office beginning 1 January 2017) the Committee will select half its seats for election for a two year term and half for a four year term. This will ensure a cycle of continuity for the Committee subsequently.
When are the elections?
7 January 2013 – opening of nominations
8 February 2013 – close of nominations
11-20 February 2013 – verification that candidates are eligible to stand
21-22 February 2013 – publication of candidates details on website
8 March 2013 – dispatch of voting papers (electronically)
12 April 2013, 5pm – close of voting
18 April 2013 – announcement of results
18 April 2013 – new members take up office
Who can vote?
All members in the Health Practitioner membership category in the country/region concerned are eligible to vote in this election.
How does voting work?
Health Practitioner members vote for the person whom they think will best fulfil the role of Health Practitioner Committee member for their country/region.
Voting will be conducted electronically. Members will receive an email from the independent scrutineer, Electoral Reform Services Ltd, with a link to a voting website. Members will be encouraged to provide the RCN with a valid email address in advance of the election in order to take part.
