An RCN Fellow can be any nurse registered within the UK who has made an exceptional contribution to the advancement of nursing and/or health care through leadership, practice development or academic achievement. Current members of Council and RCN staff are excluded.

An RCN Honorary Fellow will be an individual who has made an exceptional contribution to nursing and/or health care. They will either be:

  • A nurse registered outside the UK of international repute and distinction
  • An individual who is not a nurse but has had a significant impact on nursing and/or health care.

Fellows mission statement

The Fellows of the Royal College of Nursing aim to improve standards of nursing care by influencing others and working through the Royal College and with those bodies that impact on nursing.
