Andy began his nursing career as a student nurse at the university of Keele in 1999. He moved to London in 2002 taking up his first staff nurse post at the Royal London Hospital. After working at various NHS trusts in east and central London he is currently Ward Manager for Children and Adolescents at Newham University Hospital NHS Trust.

He has served as an RCN steward for 10 years, was Chair of the RCN Association of Nursing Students (ANS) 2000-2001 and was a member of the agenda committee from 2005-09

He is particularly interested in children's oncology, nursing care of children in district general hospitals and nursing politics but is passionate about all things nursing and the role of the RCN in supporting members and improving patient care.

Andy is married to Kathryn and has two cats named Cleo and Molly. He enjoys singing, especially karaoke, and is a keen cook.
