Andy entered the nursing family as an assistant in 1972, and completed Enrolled Nurse training before becoming a Registered Nurse in 1977. He is currently contracted to the Greater Glasgow & Clyde Health Board as a Senior Charge Nurse. For the last few years before this Andy worked as a Partnership Facilitator working closely with the Human Resource Department.

His nursing expertise lies in the care of the elderly, with a particular interest in the Dementias and Challenging Behaviours.

Andy’s experience with the RCN includes his time as the Chair and Secretary for the Clyde branch, and he has also served as a Scottish board member on a number of occasions. In the past Andy has also been seconded to the College as an Assistant Officer.

Andy is a proud recipient of an RCN Award of Merit, which reflects on his representation of members throughout his 30 year RCN membership.
