Ian began nursing more than 30 years ago and knows just how important it is to have a strong professional union like the RCN behind you.

With such a diversity of issues and cultures in London, Ian feels that it is vital that the views of London members are fully represented at RCN Council and will draw on his experience to do this.

Ian bring his knowledge of how the RCN operates and how to influence policy to the role. Some of the current issues which particularly concern him are:

the pace of the current health reforms and the importance of a strong voice for nursing within the new structures
funding cuts and the impact on nurses and the care they can give patients
the unacceptable level of abuse faced by colleagues, and the daily stresses they face
developing learning networks to enhance nurses' roles.
