Rachel Thompson
Dementia Project Lead
Rachel has been working as the Dementia Project Lead with the RCN since September 2010. She has worked as a nurse for over 20 years across a range of settings, including day care, inpatient and community service; mostly within older peoples services. Rachel has specialised in the care of people with dementia and their families since 1996.
She worked as an Admiral Nurse for 10 years and was the National Practice Development Lead for Admiral Nursing between 2006 – 2009. More recently she worked in Continuing Care settings in Camden, London supporting the development of best practice for people with dementia and their families.
Rachel is passionate about improving the experience of care for those affected by dementia through adopting a family centred approach. She has been involved in delivering education & training, supporting practice development projects and has published a number of articles on education and best practice in dementia.
