Infection Control Adviser
Rose has been the nurse adviser for infection prevention and control (IPC) since August 2007 on a part time secondment basis. Rose commenced her career in infection control in 1998, whilst collecting surveillance data for the national surgical site surveillance scheme. She took up the senior nurse position at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in 2002, and led the infection control nursing team through the outbreak of Clostridium difficile and subsequent investigations.
Rose's role within the Nursing Department consists of general professional adviser duties supporting RCN member communities. Additionally, she completes specific work leading on RCN activity for infection prevention and control.
Rose works with members and staff locally and regionally as well at the UK and European level. RCN work on infection prevention involves providing guidance for RCN members as well as working with or supporting our stakeholders both professional, patient advocacy and those in government.
Rose provides leadership to the RCN IPC network which acts as a forum for the exchange of information and provides opportunities for its members to get involved in the work of the College. Rose works closely with other professional advisers in the Nursing Department as well as the Employment Relations team on issues relating to health and safety and patient safety.
Other areas of responsibility for Rose relate to cancer and breast care, gastrointestinal nursing, nephrology, IV and haematology.
