Programme outline
Leading for quality care is delivered in three modules over nine months. The programme includes five workshops and five action learning sets. Action learning sets are proactive group meetings that focus on key elements of the programme. This approach enables participants to gain insight into self and others, and apply this learning to the practical realities of their role.
There will also be two equivalent days contact using blended learning techniques, this will include 360-degree feedback, a series of webinars and teleconference group support.
Module one: Developing self as a leader
Four day module – two workshops and two supporting action learning sets.
This module gives participants the opportunity to:
- identify the policy drivers for leading quality care
- identify what is required to be an effective and influential leader
- undertake a self assessment questionnaire
- develop a personal and professional leadership development plan
- identify a service improvement project in their organisation.
Module two: Delivering the service
Four day module – two workshops and two supporting action learning sets.
This module gives participants the opportunity to:
- develop the knowledge, skills, capabilities and behaviours to effectively lead and manage
- better understand people and resources, including: effective team working, issues relating to equality and diversity, conflict resolution, performance management and strategic financial management
- develop their ability to effectively influence and engage stakeholders, particularly through change
- commence the implementation of their service improvement project.
Module three: Leading for continuous quality improvement
Two day module – one workshop and one supporting action learning set.
This module gives participants the opportunity to:
- explore ways of sustaining a workplace culture where innovation and creativity are the norm
- develop influencing skills at an operational and strategic level
- complete their service improvement project
- sustain their leadership development.
