RCN Council representatives

The RCN has two representatives from Scotland on RCN Council, who are here to help you influence the governance of RCN at a national level and are happy to hear from any members who have issues of concern or queries about making their voice heard.

Our current representatives are:

RCN Scotland Board Chair: Michael Brown

Michael Brown was elected as a RCN Council member for Scotland in 2009. He is Chair of the RCN Council Committee for trade union governance, is a member of Council’s Membership Representation and Governance Support committees. He works as a workforce solutions manager and partnership representative and has been an active RCN steward and safety representative since 1995. He has been an RCN member since 1989.

Since 2005 Michael has been doing partnership work within Ayrshire and Arran on a full-time basis. In 2011 Michael took on a new role as a nurse manager within Ayrshire and Arran’s workforce solutions team. From 2006 until 2009 he represented Ayrshire and Arran on the RCN Scotland Board.

UK Council member: Andy Patrick

Andy has been a registered nurse since 1977. His most recent post was as a Senior Nurse in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde he retains a special interest in service provision for older people especially related to dementia and challenging behaviours. He has also worked as a partnership facilitator in the past.

In the RCN, Andy has been chair and secretary for the Clyde branch, and has also served as a Scottish board member on a number of occasions, and been seconded to the RCN as an assistant officer. Andy received an RCN Award of Merit in 2009.
