Clinical guidelines
We work in partnership with organisations to help influence nurse education whilst promoting quality and clinical effectiveness. As part of the RCN's clinical effectiveness work, we are constantly developing nurse-led guidelines in a number of areas of practice.
We also help others develop guidelines by providing a nursing perspective in the development process, playing a part on steering groups and piloting schemes.
RCN Scotland main policy issues for education of nurses include:
- clinical placements
- attrition
- continuing professional development
- supporting nurse educators
- career progression
RCN Education Taskforce
The RCN Education Taskforce was established in 2001 to take forward educational issues for nurses. The first phase of the taskforce led to the publication of the RCN Quality Education for Quality Care policy recommendations and the group continue to be at the forefront of educational issues.
