Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF)

This is part of Agenda for Change, the new pay and careers package which is being rolled out across the UK, presents nurses and healthcare professional with a more structured package to help them develop their career.

The Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) will enhance lifelong learning within the NHS and is consistent with the RCN’s educational objectives. The KSF will place the onus on the employers to facilitate CPD for nurses by providing staff with:

  • clear and consistent development objectives
  • the knowledge and skills appropriate to their level of responsibility
  • ability to identify and develop knowledge and skills that would support their career progression
