Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF)
The Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) is part of Agenda for Change, the UK-wide pay and careers package. The framework provides nurses and healthcare professionals with a structured package to help them develop their career.
The KSF enhances lifelong learning in the NHS and is consistent with the RCN’s educational objectives. The KSF places the onus on employers to facilitate CPD for nurses by providing staff with:
- clear and consistent development objectives
- the knowledge and skills appropriate to their level of responsibility
- ability to identify and develop knowledge and skills that would support their career progression.
