Michael Brown

Chair of the RCN Scotland Board

Michael Brown was elected as an RCN Council member for Scotland in 2009. He is Chair of the RCN Scotland Board, Chair of the RCN Council Committee for trade union governance, and is a member of the Council's Membership Representation and Governance Support committees. He is a workforce solutions manager and partnership representative and has been an active RCN steward and safety representative since 1995. He has been an RCN member since 1989.

Since 2005 Michael has been carrying out partnership work on a full-time basis. In 2011 he took on a new role as a nurse manager in Ayrshire and Arran's workforce solutions team. From 2006 until 2009 he represented Ayrshire and Arran on the RCN Scotland Board.

Theresa Fyffe

RCN Scotland Director

Theresa Fyffe began her nursing career in Dublin where she trained as a registered nurse, later working mainly within critical care nursing, in the fields of intensive care and neuroscience. She was formerly Director of Practice Development and Research within Tayside University Hospitals Trust.

In 2000, Theresa joined the Scottish Executive Health Department (SEHD) as a nursing officer responsible for policy, practice development and research. Within a wide-ranging role, Theresa had responsibility for research, quality, safe and effective care, clinical leadership, practice development, acute services and strategy development. 

In the year prior to leaving the Scottish Executive, Theresa held the post of Deputy Chief Nursing Officer. She took up her appointment as RCN Scotland Director in April 2007.
