Activist training
The RCN Scotland Learning and Development Department Scotland runs accredited training courses that enable RCN stewards, safety representatives, and learning representatives to support and represent members effectively.
All Representatives are required to attend a three day Introductory Programme. Following this, Representatives must complete a further three day role specific course in order to be accredited by the RCN.
Accredited representatives are entitled to paid time away from work to undergo training to support them in carrying out the functions of their role.
What support do RCN representatives receive?
RCN representatives are fully supported by RCN staff.
Each representative also receives:

- access to the restricted discussion zone on the RCN website
- supported shadowing and mentoring opportunities on a ‘needs-led’ basis
