Overseas nurses
RCN Scotland launched its Overseas Nurses Network group on 12 November 2004. Over 100 delegates signed up to be part of the group on the day and reiterated a number of concerns RCN has been discussing with overseas nurses leading up to the launch.

At the meeting on 12 November 2004, you, our members, told us you wanted the Nursing and Midwifery Council to answer your questions about the lengthy delays you were experiencing trying to register as a nurse to work in the UK. You also told us you wanted to get your questions on immigrations, access to public services and other political issues.
In response we held the RCN Scotland Overseas Nurses Network Conference , which took place on 11 February 2005 to do just that.
As a result, we receive widespread media coverage in the Edinburgh Evening News and on BBC Scotland.
- 'Foreign Nurses hit by Red Tape Delays' (14 February 2005)
- 'Timewasters' blamed for delay to foreign nurses' (22 February 2005)
