Policy - have your say
RCN Scotland works proactively with RCN members to identify, respond to and influence health and social care policy for the benefit of nurses, patients and communities.
Health and social care policy can take many forms, for example:
- national strategies, such as the Equally Well strategy
- new workforce models, such as the Modernising Nursing in the Community programme
- action plans, such as Better Diabetes Care
- targets, such as the 18 weeks Referral to Treatment target
- legislation, such as the Patients' Rights Bill.
The team's work is in the following key areas:
- supporting RCN members to understand the impact of new health and social care policies and to make their voices heard
- influencing, shaping or challenging policy developments, and analysing their potential impact on nursing issues
- setting the agenda on national nursing issues
- developing policy briefings through research, analysis and intelligence gathering
- responding to consultations issued by the Scottish Government and other decision-making organisations.
The team need RCN members to help develop and shape the policy work of RCN Scotland. Read the policy page on getting involved to find out how.
