Get it Right

The RCN Wales campaign for nursing led solutions to health policyGet it right

To achieve world class health care in Wales there needs to be a sufficient number of nursing staff to deliver care. Each person delivering that care needs to have the right skills and should be supported by the right polices in their work place. The Get it Right campaign sets out clearly the views of RCN Wales on the most important health issues the Welsh Assembly Government will face in this period. It has four strands:

  • right numbers
  • right skills
  • right workplace
  • public health public service.

RCN Wales has amended its briefings to include updated content reviewing the initial material and new topics. In this third and final year of the RCN Get it Right campaign we will raise issues such as Staffing Levels (PDF 190KB), advanced roles for nurses in Learning Disabilities (PDF 165KB) and Alcohol Misuse (PDF 166KB).

For each of these topics you will see a selection of one page policy briefings. These briefings are designed to be easy introductions to the topic for decision-makers. They set out the key policy actions RCN Wales believes the Welsh Assembly Government should undertake. Briefings are available in both the Welsh and English languages and can be received in electronic or hard copy by emailing your request to alison.hobbs-mcclean@rcn.org.uk.

Alternatively, view or download the campaign briefings at the foot of this page.

The Royal College of Nursing has a long tradition in Wales of being a strong campaigner for the wellbeing of patients. It is hoped this series of readily accessible briefings on topical issues will assist in providing facts, figures and crucially policy solutions to decision-makers and influencers who are either involved in health policy formation or who have a lively interest in this most pressing of public concerns.

Are you an RCN member? If you have ideas about the topics that RCN Wales should focus on, want to add anything on the topics we have already covered or would like copies of our campaign folder then please email the RCN Policy Advisor: lisa.turnbull@rcn.org.uk.
