What can you expect from us?
At the Royal College of Nursing we reward your hard work and commitment with great support, learning and development, benefits and flexible working conditions.
Recognising your contribution
We have an excellent pay structure which is regularly benchmarked against the external market. Service is also rewarded with annual incremental rises (up to the top of the payscale for the role) and an annual pay award.
Our normal full-time hours are 35 per week. Annual leave starts at an initial 28 days, rising to a maximum of 32 days after 2 years of service. We also close at Christmas.
We also offer the opportunity to join The RCN Pension Scheme. The scheme operates on a Career Average Revalued Earnings (CARE) basis and has a choice of benefit and contribution levels.
Other benefits
Your family – We have excellent policies in place to support staff with family commitments. As well as our generous maternity, paternity and adoption leave policies, we have a Special Leave Policy that supports staff in a whole host of situations. Childcare Vouchers are also available to purchase via salary sacrifice, saving staff with young children money on their childcare costs.
Your health & wellbeing – Our award winning health and wellbeing programme invests initiatives for staff including our Health and Wellbeing programme which has been delivered around the UK by our Health and Wellbeing advocates. With our monthly Health and Wellbeing bulletin, an electronic newsletter that contains stories and recipes and highlights the support and resources available to staff, employees also benefit from advice and information on conditions such as Diabetes and high blood pressure.
Our Employee Assistance Program means support is always available for staff and their immediate family. This confidential 24 hour service gives practical information and counselling support for personal or work-related concerns, at no cost. Find out more here (Validuim link).
We also have an Occupational Health service to support our staff and our work life balance policy ensures you find the right work/life balance.
Your travel - To help spread the cost of journeys to and from work, we offer interest free season ticket loans. We also have a Ride2Work scheme, enabling staff to buy bikes at discounted rates through the government-backed scheme.

RCNXtra - Offering RCN members and staff fantastic discounts on a range of lifestyle products and services, from insurance to health clubs, hotel stays to CDs and flowers to mobile phones.
We also have learning and development opportunities.
