Working in a modern trade union is fascinating.

As the Director of RCN England I manage the local services that provide workplace support for our 330,000 members living and working in England. I find no two weeks are ever the same.

During one I’m involved in developing strategic partnerships with the government, then the next I’m working with groups of health care assistants and nurses on clinical challenges.

Career progression is good at the RCN. I’ve had four different jobs during my time here and each has provided a wealth of interesting opportunities and rewarding projects. My experience has led me to collaborating on two books, and teaching programmes at universities in Germany and Spain. To me, working here is all about enabling our members to do whatever they do as well as they can.
