Maxine Hurley,
Diversity and Equalities Assistant Coordinator
With 400,000 members, the RCN is an organisation that lobbies for change and supports people at different stages in their career. Supporting others is a core value for working here as people are our business. As part of the Diversity Unit I collaborate closely with colleagues to develop their understanding and performance around the corporate diversity agenda and deliver training to staff and members. The RCN is constantly evolving, providing opportunities for staff to develop new skills. Part of my ongoing development was taking a one year secondment to work as a Senior Equalities Officer for the Mayor of London. Also, with support from the Corporate Development Panel I have studied for a BA in Human Rights, completed a Neuro Linguistic Programming course to Master Practitioner level and have gained accreditation as an International Trainer. These development opportunities allow me to stay abreast of emerging trends and have enhanced my ability to deliver in my role.
