RCN community acceptable use policy
- Members and editors can express their individual opinions within the communities but should not represent those opinions as agreed RCN policy, if that is not the case.
- RCN community content has to be relevant to the specific interests of the professional community.
- You must have the permission from the content owner to use externally sourced content (for example; images and documents) on the community web pages.
- Content can be removed at the discretion of the RCN if:
- It is deemed to be of an unprofessional nature, not relevant to the specific community in which it has been posted.
- It is perceived to be an insult or an attack on individuals or organisations (including the RCN). This includes threats, harassment and name-calling.
- It contains obscene, vulgar or bad language
- It is hateful, threatening or hurtful to persons or organisations (including the RCN)
- It is personally insulting or threatening to any member of the RCN or any of its staff
- It attacks individuals or groups on the basis of their race, gender, sexual orientation, religion or nationality.
- It infringes the privacy of any individual.
- It consists of private argument rather than an issue of general interest to the specific community
- It is used to advertise commercial ventures or services unless prior approval has been granted by an appropriate member of staff at the RCN.
- It is used as a means to resolve complaints.
- It is used to lobby members on an issue not relating to the specific community.
- It is used to promote the political ambitions of members, groups or organisations, either internal or external to the RCN.
- It is in breach of copyright law.
- It is of a defamatory or litigious nature.
- It creates a risk to the RCN’s reputation.
- The RCN will not be held responsible for the content of any community as it may, or may not represent the views of the RCN
- The RCN reserves the right to:
- Remove or edit any material, at our sole discretion, with or without warning in an effort to maintain the atmosphere and integrity of this RCN service.
- Close any or all RCN communities at any time, without prior notice.
- Amend or add to these terms and conditions, without prior consultation, at any time.
- You must be a registered member of the RCN to join a community.
- There is no limit to the number of communities an RCN member can join.
- The business model for the formation and dissolution of any community or communities may be subject to change at any time.
- The decision of the RCN website manager is final with regard to any issue relating to RCN communities.
- The community editor(s) are obliged to sign and return copies of the acceptable use policy prior to the launch of a new community.
- Revenue streams generated through the community model are recognised as revenues generated by the RCN web team for the RCN.
- All RCN communities and community technologies remain part of the RCN website; hosted, maintained and supported entirely by the RCN.
- The RCN does not accept responsibility or liability for the content of websites owned by organisations outside the RCN.
- RCN communities may contain information, advice and guidance to help members of the RCN. It is intended for use within the UK but readers are advised that practices may vary in each country and outside the UK.
- Information in RCN communities has been compiled from professional sources and community members. The information therein may only represent the opinions of members and its accuracy is not guaranteed.
- Whilst every effort has been made to ensure the RCN provides accurate and expert information and guidance, it is impossible to predict all the circumstances in which it may be used.
