Wound management in cancer and palliative care
Wound management in cancer and palliative care, written by Wayne Naylor, Nurse Educator/Lecturer (Oncology/Haematology) in the Professional Development Unit at Wellington Hospital, New Zealand, has been developed with the support of an educational grant from UK’s Help the Hospices.
The course provides a comprehensive overview of the skin and wound problems present in these two large and challenging patient groups and focuses predominantly on wound management. The course modules are:
- Module 1: Wound care basics
- Module 2: Managing skin changes
- Module 3: Managing specific wounds
- Module 4: Guide to wound dressings
- Module 5: Psychosocial issues
- Module 6: Conclusion.
An international panel of expert practitioners, each with vast experience and knowledge of wound management, reviewed the course prior to launch.
