Cancer UK

This site is an independent, not-for-profit site, which provides a gateway to UK-based cancer resources.

The site has several pages detailing cancer types; government and NHS sites, centres and policy; locations of services; and links to other related themes. The cancer types include all the major cancers, with some cancers such as leukaemia having links to charities supporting that cause as well as research and education sites. Cancers with a lesser incidence are, however, also represented through the alphabet index, which is a clear and easy system to surf through.

The cancer policy site is presently under construction; I would advise a link to the DoH for access to the Cancer Plan, rather than just the Calman-Hine document the site presently lists.

Whilst coverage is patchy, the locations page holds many regional, European and international links. The site is also asking for people with knowledge of local services to contribute, and join the editorial board, with a responsibility for updating materials. This would give nursing staff a good opportunity to promote any developments, groups or services they may be involved with.
